Ferry piers on Samui – There are several main ferry terminals on Koh Samui. They offer connections to the mainland at Surat Thani and Chumporn.

Also, ferry connections to the surrounding islands of Koh Tao and Koh Phangan are very easily accessible from Samui too.

The quality of Piers on Koh Samui is generally very good.

Particularly around the piers, the sea is quite shallow and because of this, the piers tend to be quite long.

These ferries generally depart every 30 minutes or so.

Li Pa Noi Pier

Raja Ferry Pier, sometimes referred to as Lipa Noi Pier (which is 20 minutes from Chaweng) is the departure point for Don Sak (Surat Thani) on the mainland.

The ferries tend to arrive and depart every hour, from 05.00 am until 18.00, every day.

During busy parts of the year, there may be extra services put on.

Bear in mind that the pier is a little way from the main ring road which encircles Samui. Because of this, the taxis fare can be a little more expensive.

It is best to book an onward journey to your hotel or resort before arriving to save any hassle.

Bangrak Pier (Big Buddha Pier)

This Pier is also be referred to as “Big Buddha Pier” due to its closeness to a large 12 m high Big Buddha.

Bangrak Pier (north Samui), is 10 minutes from Chaweng. Which incidentally is a great place to visit on a sightseeing afternoon.

The pier at Bangrak has recently been given a facelift also, there have been speakers installed -so that you can listen to music as you walk down to catch your ferry.

There are also a couple of places on the pier to buy some snacks and drinks.

The staff at the pier are very helpful and can advise you.

Bangrak Pier is also the closest of the piers to Samui Airport, you will see planes landing and taking off quite frequently.

It is also a great place to find a boat over to Koh Phangan (famous for its full moon parties).

Koh Tao which is a diving mecca for the beginner.

Maenam Pier

This Pier in Koh Samui is about 15 minutes from Chaweng Beach.

It is located on the North of the Island and not too far from Bang Rak Pier and Fisherman’s Village.

Maenam is a quiet sleepy little community. It has a beautiful long beach, which is usually deserted, and a small pier which looks out to Koh Phangan.

Because it’s only a few miles out it is easy to see Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao can also be seen out in the distance.

Maenam Pier has ferries departing for Koh Phangan and Koh Tao and back to the mainland at Surat Thani.

The pier is quite easy to find, and every week there is a market which is outstandingly good value for money.

Nathon Pier

It is Samui Island’s largest and busiest ferry port.

It serves as the key arrival/departure point for many of the travellers arriving and departing Koh Samui.

The pier is located on the northwest side of Koh Samui about 30 minutes from Chaweng.

It is possible to catch a ferry from Samui to Koh Tao and Koh Phangan.

Nathon Pier is a very busy place all year round and is also the main car Seatran ferry terminal.

If you drive to Koh Samui, then it is recommended that booking a ticket beforehand is advisable, especially before leaving.

As well as serving the cars, trucks and motorbikes to and from the mainland it is also the main passenger terminal too.

Nathon is a small town with hotels, ATM machines and banks, post office, tour desks and travel agencies there are several bars and restaurants too.
